Rice County Receives Grant Funds

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety recently awarded grant funds to the Rice County Safe Communities Coalition.  The funds are awarded for work to move Rice County “toward zero deaths” on highways and other roads.  The activities of the grant focus on traffic safety, impaired driving and use of seat belts and safety seats.  Kathy Cooper serves as Coordinator for the effort previously funded under the Safe Communities grant funds.  The Rice county Family Services Collaborative serves as fiscal agent for the project.  THe Coalition is comprised of law enforcement agency representatives, school staff, health care providers, emergency responders and traffic engineers.
